Straighten Quads UV | Maya Script  

INSTALLATION

1. Place the StraightenQuadsUV.pyc file into the following directory: Documents\maya\20XX\scripts
2. To add the script to a shelf or run it from the script editor, or to assign it to a hotkey, use the following 2 lines of code (in Python):

import StraightenQuadsUV as su
su.StraightenQuadsUV.UI()

ABOUT:

• Straighten Quads UV is a UV tool that unfolds a UV shell with one click in a straightened, grid-like manner.
• The only condition: the topology of the selected UV shell must consist only of quads.
• It is very handy for straightening and unfolding UV shells in one click, especially when working with cylindrical or wire-like models.

HOW TO USE:

• Make a Selection
• You can select one or multiple faces or UV vertices, and the selection will expand to the entire UV shell.
• Alternatively, you can select objects, and all UV shells of the selected objects containing quad polygons will be unfolded.
• Choose your options and press the "Make Straighten UV" button.
