Use your Maya keys inside Blender, and your Blender keys inside Maya.

Moving between Maya and Blender costs you a day of wrong keys. You press W to move and Blender starts something else. You hold Alt and drag to orbit and nothing happens. You press Tab expecting component mode and the whole viewport changes. The work is the same in both applications, but your hands are not, and retraining muscle memory every time you switch files is a tax on every project.
I built ShortcutMixer so the keys travel with you. Turn on the shortcuts you want, one card at a time, and your usual keys work in the other application. Nothing about your scene changes, only which key does what.

✨ What it does
😵💫 Pressing the wrong shortcut
Muscle memory does not switch software with you. Every wrong key is a small stop, and in a day of jumping between the two there are hundreds of them.
🔹 Q, W, E, R, the Maya way
The Maya tool keys, inside Blender. Q selects, W moves, E rotates, R scales, exactly where your hand expects them. The gizmo in the clip changes on the frame the key is pressed, nothing is faked.
🧠 Alt and mouse, orbit like Maya
Maya style navigation in the Blender viewport: Alt and left mouse to orbit, Alt and middle mouse to pan, Alt and right mouse to zoom. F frames the selection and A frames everything, so the moves you make a thousand times a day stay the same.
🗂️ Turn on only what you want
Every shortcut is its own card with its own switch, grouped into Navigation, Tool Switching, Viewport Display, Modeling and Animation. Turn on the handful you actually want, leave the rest of Blender exactly as it was, and change your mind whenever you like.
📝 One menu, no key fights
Some actions want the same key. Instead of forcing you to pick, the Quick Anim Menu gathers them behind one hotkey, Shift and Q, and lists them with the keys they came from. You can also see which Blender functions are overridden and move any of them to another key, so nothing you rely on disappears quietly.
💡 Tab in Maya, like Blender
It works the other way too. In Maya, Tab switches between object and component mode the way it does in Blender, with the point, line and face modes a key away, plus a panel full of mapped actions to browse.
🔹 Your keys, in both apps
The same add-on ships for both hosts, with the same card list and the same switches. Set it up once in each and stop thinking about which application you are in.
🔹 Also included
Per key remapping: change any shortcut's key, or reassign the Blender function it displaced.
Conflict list, so you can see what a shortcut overrode before you keep it.
Category filter to find a shortcut in a long list.
Auto start on open, so your setup is live in every file.
🖥️ Requirements
- Blender: 4.0 or newer recommended. It loads on 3.6 and up, but 4.0+ is what gets tested.
- Maya: 2022 or newer
📦 What you get
- Blender version: AnimPal_ShortcutMixer_2026_01.zip (Blender add-on). Install through Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install (Install from Disk in Blender 4.2+), and pick the ZIP.
- Maya version: ShortcutMixer_v2026_01.zip (Maya add-on). Unzip anywhere, drop shelf_AnimPal_Maya.mel on a Maya viewport, then press Install on the shelf and pick this folder.
🚫 What it does not do
- It does not change your scene. It only changes which key runs which command.
- It does not copy every shortcut in the other application. It brings across the ones animators and modelers actually reach for, and each one is opt in.
- It cannot give one key two jobs. Where two actions want the same key, one of them moves, or it goes into the Quick Anim Menu instead.
📄 Licences
- Blender or Maya: pick the version for the software you use. Each comes as Personal or Studio.
- Blender + Maya: both versions for one person, for less than buying them separately.
- Personal: one person, on every computer they work on.
- Studio: up to 10 people in one team.
- Commercial use is fine. The Blender version is GPL v3, as Blender requires of add-ons.
❓ FAQ
Do I pay again for updates?
Yes. Fixes for serious bugs are free. Beyond those, you keep the version you bought, and later versions are available as a paid upgrade.
Can I use it on more than one computer?
Yes. A licence covers one artist on every computer they work at, at home and at the studio.
Can I use it for commercial work?
Yes. Use it on personal, client and studio projects. Please buy a licence for each person, or a Studio licence for your team.
Does it work on Mac?
Yes. One thing to watch: Safari unzips downloads automatically, and Blender needs the ZIP itself. Before downloading, turn off Safari > Settings > General > "Open 'safe' files after downloading", or download with another browser.
The install fails, or the add-on doesn't show up.
Install the ZIP file itself, without unzipping it first. In Blender: Edit > Preferences > Add-ons > Install (Install from Disk in Blender 4.2+), and pick the ZIP. In Maya: unzip, drop shelf_AnimPal_Maya.mel on a viewport, then press Install on the new shelf.
