Creating Cliffs in Octane and Cinema 4D

In this tutorial We go over how to create cliffs using Photoscanned materials In Octane and C4D(though any software(blender,maya,etc) would work!). we go through creating our base geo and setting up deformers to give it a natural look, then go through the process of layering duplicates of the terrain to create a nice blend of soil and cliff. Next we play with the cliff material to dial in the cliffs and get the most out of the photoscanned materials. we then bring in our scatter systems,fog and render out our scene. to finish off the tutorial we go into photoshop and bring our scene to life using various techniques including using the zdepth pass as a mask for layering up our painted on fog and adjustments layers to make our scene pop!

-concept artists or illustrators looking to get realistic and more complete looking scenes from 3D

What do I need to have before I start:
- Octane and basic knowledge of using it.
- Cinema 4D(or other 3d software package) and the basic knowledge of using it.
- cliff textures to follow along ( I use rd-textures.com but megascans, substance,etc works)
- some foliage assets to complete setdressing scene (megascans, speedtree, forester, etc)
- Photoshop for compositing and finishing touches.
- I would suggest having at least 6gigs of Vram as these scenes can get heavy

Here's a rundown of my assets used:
- 3d-model-pack-realistic-pines for the pine trees from Turbosquid(any trees work though)(i used the tops as the sapplings, young versions)
-megascans for the grasses and ground foliage.
-rdtextures.com for my tileable materials including cliffs, ground and tree bark.
