The tutorial is focused on creating hard surface models in Blender. For this tutorial specifically, it's all about the basics of Blender, getting to grips with the software, and building our first 3D model - a Sci-Fi Crate. 

The tutorial is broken down into chapters. You can see the chapters, details and runtime below. The first part of the basics to Blender is completely free! 

  • Chapter 1 - Basics of Blender (Installing, Interface, Shortcuts, Navigation, Addons, Add Menu, Translation, Modelling tools & Modifiers) - 1h 25m
  • Chapter 2 - Modelling the crate (Base, Lid, Greebles, Render) - 1h 36m 

The tutorial is specifically designed for beginners new to Blender and is conducted in real-time. 

It will be framed around personal art, mainly using examples from my work and professional experience where relevant.

Really clear concise introduction to hard surface modelling in Blender. Perfect introduction to someone changing from one 3d software to Blender. I could also see it being a great intro to 3D modelling full stop for a complete newbie. Ben has a really clear voice, and explains everything at a comfortable pace. It really is easy to follow along with his tutorials. I look forward to picking more of his explainer videos as he releases them!
