xGen to Unreal Script – Export custom Metahumans grooms from Maya xGen to UnrealEngine5 in Alembic  

Scripts automates the exporting process of hair created with xGen Maya to UnrelEngine5 (and UE4) in Alembic format and assigns all the necessary attributes.

Works with Maya 2022, 2023,2024, 2025.

!!! The script will not work if you don't have xGen component in your scene. It doesn't work with grooms created with Interactive Groom Splines.

The xGen2UE Script assigns attributes for alembic file with one click of a button:

• RootUV attribute
• Group ID (when you need to separate the groom into groups in UE)
• Guides attribute (your guides become guides that drive animation in UE)
• Hair width
• Automates conversion to Interactive Groom and Generation and reimporting hair curves in the process- combines hair splines (NURBS curves) in case the groom is too heavy (has a lot of hair)

- Now works with all Maya versions (2022-2025)

- fixed the guide attributes - now srites the guide attributes for each Description/Groom Group correctly

- changed the order of steps to write attributes for convinience and it's also more logical this way
