Trim Mapping Toolbox for Maya - New Script + Free Update
Many people requested that we should have a trim sheet toolbox that uses the Ultimate Trim Texturing Technique from Sunset Overdrive and many other games. I'm happy to announce a new tool called Trim Mapping Toolbox.
The Trim Mapping Toolbox allows you to fit UV shells non-destructively to trim sheet textures, including sending UV shells to trim indexes that match closest to the UV shell's current height in the UV editor. As well, end cap indexes are supported by toolbox.
This toolbox uses an intuitive workflow I designed to easily configure any horizontal trim sheet texture to work with the toolbox. This avoids having to type trim heights in manually or load a config file per project. In this toolbox you can load different trim sheet texture layouts at any time and share those layouts with other artists for consistent trim mapping across a team. See below for full release notes.
Special thanks to Victor for originally suggesting this idea and sharing an unfinished version of the toolbox he was working on at that time, seeing his work in progress helped me figure out my final design and functionality.
Also, speacial thanks to Matthew for testing an early version of this toolbox back in 2023.
