Ian's tutorial and techniques had a very crucial role in my learning journey. This tutorial teaches you all the basic and most important skills that you need in order to become a matte painter: plate cleanup, set extension, sky replacement, relighting and so on. What makes it relevant for the industry it's the realistic approach to DMP, in the sense that the task is very similar to what you'd get to work on in a studio. It is not focused on creating extravagant paintings that are detached from the studio experience, it teaches you what you need in order to succeed in this field. In my experience, when applying to jobs, this piece was one of the most complex and appreciated by studios and recruiters. I really recommend learning the techniques taught here.

I really enjoyed the time I watched this tutorial. Ian can explain very well all the steps you need to follow in order to accomplish a day for night conversion. It's very important to watch the way that an artist works, how he organizes his PSD file, what are the steps he takes and most importantly he gives really good tips that will help you immediately. After finishing the tutorial, he inspired me to work on my own day for night convention, and his tips were to the point. I recommend it to everyone artist, working in VFX industry or not, who wants to practice, learn new things and improve their Photoshop tecniques.

Boulder Theatre tutorial is one of the best tutorials out there. You will see Ian workflow, the way of thinking things is something that is out of this world. He shows techniques that you can learn from that are hard to find somewhere else, he also shares the important of organization and working on a non destructive way, color matching, ambience light painting and many other details are very way explained straight to the point. This tutorial is short and straight to the point with in depth details and easy to follow, if you want to level up your game learning a new technique and tricks this is your tutorial.

- Ian's workflow and techniques are all about flexibility and working in a non destructive way.
- He'll show techniques for Day to night conversions including, Color Matching, Shadow Removal, Atmospheric Perspective for Cities at Night, Reflections, Ambience Light Painting, and Detail Light Painting. As well as Group and Layers organization techniques, all while preserving as much data of the Base Plate as possible.
- The tutorials are not bloated and are to the point, short and insightful.
- Definitely a great tutorial for Junior and Mid Matte Painters who want to level up their night game.
