Private Use License – Plain-English Summary

This is a simple summary of the license. The full legal text always applies, but here’s the gist in everyday language:

✅ What you CAN do:

• Print the model for your own personal use (as many times as you like).
• Post photos of your 3D prints online (social media, blogs, websites, etc.).
• Keep the prints for yourself, gift them to a friend, or enjoy them at home.

❌ What you CANNOT do:

• Sell the 3D model files or share them with others.
• Sell 3D prints made from the files.
• Make molds, casts, or do mass production/industrial reproduction.
• Modify or adapt the digital files and share or sell those changes.

⚠️ Rule of thumb:
If it’s for fun, display, or personal projects → ✅ Allowed.
If it involves money, mass production, or file sharing → ❌ Not allowed.

Private Use License

This Private Use License (“License”) grants an unlimited, non-exclusive, worldwide right to print and use a 3D model from its digital files (“Digital Files”) for private, non-commercial purposes, for as long as this License remains in effect for the licensed 3D model.

By exercising the rights granted under this License, you agree to be bound by its terms and conditions. To the extent this License is construed as a contract, you receive the rights granted herein in consideration of your acceptance of these terms, and the Designer grants you those rights in consideration of making the Digital Files available to you under this License.

Section 1 – Definitions

• 3D Model – The result of 3D modeling, the process of developing a three-dimensional representation of objects, surfaces, or characters.
• Licensed 3D Model – The specific 3D model to which this License applies.
• Digital File – A digital representation of a 3D model, in file formats such as (but not limited to) STL, OBJ, or 3DS.
• 3D Print – A physical printed version of a 3D model made from its Digital File.
• Designer – The copyright holder and creator of the licensed 3D model.
• Licensed Rights – The rights granted to you under this License, limited to those the Designer has the authority to grant under copyright law.
• Share – To make available to the public by any means or process requiring authorization under copyright law (including reproduction, distribution, broadcast, or digital publication).
• You (Licensee) – Any individual or entity exercising the rights granted under this License. “Your” and “Yours” also refer to the Licensee.

Section 2 – Scope of License

Subject to compliance with these terms, the Designer authorizes you to:

1. Reproduce 3D prints of the licensed 3D model, in whole or in part, for private and personal use only.
2. Share images of your 3D prints on social networks, websites, or other communication media.
3. Produce 3D prints only in individual or small-scale personal quantities.

Explicitly prohibited under this License:

• Any form of mass production, casting, or mold-making.
• Industrial or large-scale reproduction of the licensed 3D model or its prints.

Section 3 – Terms of Use

If you share images of your 3D prints, you must:

• Identify the Designer of the licensed 3D model (by name or pseudonym, if provided).
• Provide a link, URI, or reference to the source of the licensed 3D model.

This License does not include permissions for:

• Selling, distributing, sharing, donating, exchanging, copying, modifying, or adapting the licensed 3D model.
• Selling, distributing, sharing, donating, exchanging, copying, modifying, or adapting the Digital Files of the licensed 3D model.
• Making molds, casts, or engaging in any form of mass production or reproduction of the 3D model or its prints.

Section 4 – Warranty Disclaimer

Unless otherwise specified, the licensed 3D model and its Digital Files are provided “as-is,” without warranty of any kind, express or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.

Section 5 – Duration and Termination

• This License remains in effect for as long as it is applied to the licensed 3D model by the Designer.
• Any failure to comply with the obligations of this License will automatically revoke the rights granted under it.
