In this video, we will be focusing on the flexibility and power of the Tile Sampler and how I use it in my pipeline. Understanding how to create patterns is an essential part of creating substances. I will be showing you multiple examples of how I use the Tile Sampler to create patterns that can be used to make hard surfaces and natural materials. We'll cover how to create rocks and how to scatter them in natural and procedural ways. And lastly, we'll cover how to make grass.

This tutorial is a part of my Fundamental Series, where I demonstrate the core lessons that I have learned in my own SD journey. Each tutorial contains multiple examples, where I’ll be building from scratch, and narrating each step along the way. The focus is not on building complete materials, but on learning how to use nodes, and how to approach problems. These lessons will help to form a good foundation for anyone starting out.

This class is great and I even bought the series. I just don`t give it 5 stars because there is a point on the video where the steps are not clearly shown and I saw other customers with the same question as me. I tried to contact the author and I haven`t gotten an answer yet. Those classes are good but expect that the author may take for granted that you know how to do something even when this is a fundamentals class. Besides that, I do recommend it.

Absolutely perfect for learning the basics and getting started in Substance Designer! This is exactly what I was looking for, as it gets your mind thinking in the right direction for learning this software! I didn't want to just follow along copying someone else's material but rather was looking for a deeper understanding of function over form. Daniel Thiger's Fundamentals tutorials really show the power of Substance through a variety of nodes and their different uses in the software along with different techniques to achieve various results. Thank you for putting these together!

really great walkthrough, I tried to learn designer previously but lost interest as it was a step by step on how to create a specific result, more number filling then understanding the techniques and thought process. After watching and experimenting alongside this my understanding of designer is wayyyyyyy way better and has me excited to learn more. Intend to practice what was covered in this over the next day or two and proceed to the next volume, highly reccomend
