Hi there!
Having worked on several high profile zombie games, I have some experience by now with painting juicy blood and gore!
I decided to make this comprehensive Multi-Functional, but easy-to-use Fresh Blood Smart Material for Substance Painter. It works particularly well on any skin, creature or human and no matter what color.
In this Smart Material all layers are efficiently connected with anchor points to ONE base layer. This means that you can very easily and quickly paint multi-layered blood on whatever surface you want to (check it here: https://youtu.be/5nIBzfcNZhY). Though there is still plenty to tweak in the higher layers for those who want to further dive in and customize.
You can either paint or use alphas with this material. I have included an example grunge alpha in the material itself to show this off.
The material is showcased in Unreal Engine 4 for convenience, but will work just as well with other engines.
The price of 5.99 is not even close to worth the amount of time I have spent on making this. But if it sells enough for me to break even, I will happily spend more of my time making fun gore smart materials for sale in the future.
The files included are:
- JV_Blood.spsm
- JV_Blood Demo.flv
I have started to get multiple requests from big and small studios to use this product in an unlimited capacity in their commercial projects.
Therefore I have now added an Extended Commercial License variant!
Release Notes
-Updated some of the outdated filters to the latest version of Substance Painter (10.0.1). Should make little to no visual difference, just ensures compatibility.
-Light tweak to the mask of the optional 'Dark Spots Dirt' layer.
-Replaced placeholder examples in the 'PAINT HERE' layer to something a bit more representative.
If this new version does not work with the (older) version of Painter you are currently on, please just keep using the previous version of the product until you or your company updates to Substance 3D Painter 10.0.1.
EDIT: Just to make things easier; I have included both OLD and NEW versions of the product in this release.
As always, please let me know if there are any issues.
Cheers,
Jasper
