Changelog:
v1.0.1: Renamed all meshes to be the same as their respective objects, so you will now see their intended names in other DCCs such as 3ds Max. Cleared the rotation of all objects back to zero.
Hi there, this is a 3D model of a Toyota MR2 SW20 Rev. 2 (1993) that was created using subdivision surfaces in Blender. It's my first finished car model and the interior proportions aren't the most accurate, so I decided to share this model for free.
I used Blender's shrinkwrap method to model most of the car body (which I will avoid in future works), resulting in the subdivision surface modifier having to be applied destructively to those objects since I'm sharing this asset solely as an Alembic file. The objects that do not use shrinkwrap are base meshes that can be subdivided as viewport modifiers or within the renderer. Included is a text file listing which base meshes you should subdivide as well as some other helpful info.
I decided to loosely follow VFX conventions to distribute this model, so the file format is Alembic and I tried to name each object fairly logically from broad to narrow. Due to Blender's lack of Maya-like grouping, I was only able to make limited use of parenting to group related objects such as tires + wheels + brakes, but not the entire car to a single empty.
Enjoy and please check out my other products!
