I have created a tool in Substance Designer that includes two stylized wood materials: Wood Bark and Wood Slice. This tool is designed to offer detailed customization and facilitate the creation of realistic and stylized textures for 3D models.
Key Features:
-
Wood Bark: This material simulates the texture of tree bark in a stylized manner. The adjustable parameters allow you to modify roughness, color, and surface details. Additionally, you can enable or disable knots and adjust their parameters to add an extra level of detail and realism.
-
Wood Slice: This material represents a cross-section of a tree trunk, showing the growth rings in a stylized way, which can be mapped in either a circular or spiral pattern. The adjustable parameters include the number of rings, their thickness, color variation, roughness, and other surface details. You can also enable or disable cracks and adjust their parameters to add more detail and realism.
Additional Functionality:
I have combined both materials into a single master material, allowing users to switch between Wood Bark and Wood Slice using interactive buttons. This functionality makes it easier to apply varied and detailed textures to 3D models.
Use in Substance Painter:
This tool is designed to be used in Substance Painter, facilitating the application of realistic and detailed textures to 3D models. The exposed parameters provide great flexibility and control over the final appearance of 3D objects, making this tool ideal for projects in video games, animations, and virtual reality environments.
Availability:
You can obtain the materials individually or as a master material. Additionally, the editable .sbs files from Substance Designer are available for further customization.
I hope you find this tool useful and that it enhances your texturing projects. I’m excited to see how other users utilize it in their own creative works!
