IMPORTANT: This asset translates your your rigged facial animations into the 52 facial MoCap Blend-Shapes used by Apple ArToolKit - Once you have your face rigged, simply pose the face across 52 key frames as demonstrated in the tutorial, and the code will create blend-shapes from each frame. This allows the user to have all 52 blend-shapes without the risk of misnaming or creating blend-shapes in the wrong order. Mel-script was created on Maya 2020 build -

This asset is specifically designed to quickly equip the user with the tools they need to generate the 52 standard Apple ARKit iphone motion capture blend-shapes. This kit comes with multiple folders containing resources describing and depicting each blend-shape. It also contains mel-script macro code that will enable to user to automatically generate the 52 blend-shapes from a rigged face.

Once you have those 52 facial expressions rigged, (1 Facial Expression per keyframe on the timeline - 52 Total) you can use the script like this to generate the BlendShapes:

So, okay, this script is not magic. It is not going to magically create all 52 of your blendshapes for you. You still need to manually rig your character's face the old fashioned way. Then you need to take the rig that you made and pose it the core 52 poses, one on each frame (following the included instructions). THEN you can run the script and it will take your 52 poses and create 52 blendshapes based on the pose you made, and from there you can plug motion capture data from any old facial capture app on the apple store. you still need to do a lot of work yourself, no free lunches here, but this script saves you a ton of time that you would otherwise have to spend manually converting your poses into blend shapes. Watching the youtube video, you could be forgiven for thinking it's going to magically generate blend shapes from thin air. It doesn't. But now that I have used it, I can tell you that it is still worth every penny.

It doesn't work. It copies 52 identical facial expressions. It's disappointing.
