Fantastic piece of art. The depth of the world is great and it's narrated in a wonderful manner, both with words and with beautiful pictures. Can't wait to see more.

An enchanting piece of visual story telling. The talented writer and artists invites the reader into tantalizing glimpses of a mysterious and fleshed out world. There are elements of the world that's familiar- of sorceresses and prophets, of great conquerors and philosophers. And then, there is another dimension of pure wonders. It feels like a world where every ruin, every frame of reference is haunted by a story of its own. World building at its finest. And made me feel like a kid again. Of all the things in the world I cannot thank someone enough for gave me the sense of wonder back.

Extremely evocative imagery united with one of the most fascinating and underrated settings there are. I've felt immersed in this book atmosphere and I was left wanting for more.

Stunning artwork and story fragments immerse you into this incredible and detailed world, leaving you wonder all the possibilities of the things left untold. It's truly a great piece and I can't wait for it to be expanded upon. In the meantime I'll let my imagination wild, sifting through the drawings and poems. Highly recommended to anyone that likes both fantasy and mythological settings!

The worlds that are created by artists, allow a more profound connection to the reader. We open the book and enter a portal to that world and we get to have an adventure. In this case, we have what almost seems like a real text you would find in a library whilst studying Ancient History, taking you back to a mysterious past of maps, culture and ideologies of an bygone land.

Beautiful art book filled with gorgeous full-color artwork. Great storytelling, which is visibly rooted in the artists personal love for ancient myths and stories. Massively inspiring!

"Fragments of the Past" is a brilliant piece of art and a window to an exciting fantasy world with a Greek-like setting that will cause in the reader an urge to sail down the Mediterranean sea on the trail of ancient civilizations. The creativity is not only appreciated in the beautiful artworks that alternate the fragments (my favorite ones at p. 21, 27 and 65), but also in the brilliant idea of the author to combine the typical fantasy traits with a Greek-style mythology. Not an easy project, requiring a mastery of ancient mythology and fantasy narrative. I can't wait to read more Fragments of the Past!

In Fragments of the Past, you will peer into to a world both familiar and mysterious. The book is a collection of 'recovered' documents: stories and myths and even a travel guide, written by long-gone observers, poets, and scholars. They offer a keyhole through which the you can get an impression of this mythical world. What really spurs the imagination are Nigro's beautiful illustrations: the colors are vibrant and the figures are epic, but each scene is bursting with a hundred untold stories. The artifacts are rusted and worn with use and time; the frescos and murals are dusty. Each scene is so evocative, I could practically smell the salty air of the Ophiotaurus Coast, hear the chants of the priestesses of Psantes, and grasp the corroded blade of Tauromenion. The book focuses on peoples and heroes long dead, but the world is beautifully and wonderfully alive. If you are looking for an example of worldbuilding that flirts and suggests rather than drones and overexplains, this is it.
