ZBrush Macro Pack – Array Symmetry & Convert Tools.
This free macro pack includes 3 tools that make working with Array Meshes in ZBrush faster and more intuitive.
Included Macros:
Toggle Array Symmetry – Easily turn array symmetry on or off along X-axis.
Convert Array Mesh – Converts the active subtool’s array instances into real geometry, preserving subdivision levels whenever possible. If the subtool doesn’t use array instances, the macro functions like a Mirror and Weld, while still attempting to preserve subdivision levels.
Convert All Visible – Converts array instances across all visible subtools in one go.
Why Use These?
Works with subdivision levels & layers – Easily toggle symmetry on or off, even on complex subtools that have multiple subdivision levels or layers.
Clip Brush friendly – Unlike standard symmetry, array symmetry doesn’t break when using clip brushes.
Double symmetry support – Combine with Local Symmetry for powerful multi-axis mirroring workflows.
Time-saving – Replace repetitive, multi-step tasks with fast, one-click actions.
How to Install:
Unzip the file and drop the contents into:
C:\Program Files\Pixologic\ZBrush [your version]\ZStartup\Macros
Launch ZBrush → Macros menu → Reload All Macros → You’ll see a new “APMacros” section.
How to use:
Toggle Array Symmetry: Use this to enable/disable array symmetry along X-axis instantly. It works even if your mesh has subdivision levels or layers.
Convert Array Mesh: Converts the active tool's array mesh into real geometry.
Convert All Visible: Converts all visible subtools with array instances at once. Make sure to save your project first — this is a heavy action!
Assign hotkeys to the macros for instant access.
IMPORTANT NOTES:
Undoing a macro may require multiple Ctrl+Z presses (they apply several actions at once).
If the macro can’t reconstruct subdivisions (due to complex topology), ZBrush will notify you.
Use with Clip Brushes? Disable brush symmetry.
