What does Substance Designer do ?Substance 3D Designer is primarily a 3D design software that generates textures from procedural patterns inside node-based graphs
In the Substance Designer , you will be able to produce materials with extraordinary properties and flexibility and define parameters for those properties, which in other software can be easily changed by changing a number or a slider. It is called exposing.
In this tutorial, I tried to review Substance Designer from introductory to advanced and arranged the chapters so that the goal is to learn the software, not to memorize a series of topics for making different materials that will make you unable to use this software properly. There is no narrator in this tutorial and the video has English subtitles along with music that you can interrupt (I have a speech problem and I can't speak), but I promise you that if you watch the videos carefully and with high concentration, this tutorial will be useful and practical because I went step by step. I put a lot of effort into creating this tutorial (even if you don't master English, you can use this tutorial just by watching videos). It means that we create graphs and materials together step by step. When you finish this tutorial, You will have sufficient knowledge on nodes and software interface... You can use the materials and textures that we create in this tutorial in your portfolio and art projects.
Course Structure :
01 - Introduction to Substance Designer
At first, you will get acquainted with the software interface...then we will focus on the nodes and learn how to use the functional nodes. like blend node, uniform color node, levels node and other... I Learn windows to you... Learn how to create a 3D model and import it into Substance Designer (If you are not familiar with Substance Designer, be sure to watch the videos)
- 01 - introduction to substance designer (23 minutes)
- 02 - 3d view and graph detail (41 minutes)
- 03 - substance main nodes (52 minutes)
- 04 - Shortcuts (PDF)
02 - Creating tile material (suitable for beginners)
After you are familiar with the Substance Designer interface, you know the main nodes, and you have mastered the software windows, it is time to challenge yourself. By combining several nodes we make a tile material... this is a simple material just to understand nodes and outputs better (normal, height, roughness). (We do not expose this material).
- 01 - Tile material for beginners part one (29 minutes)
- 02 - Tile material for beginners part tow (30 minutes)
03 - Creating stylized brick material
Now you know enough nodes, so it's time to create an advanced material... I will accompany you step by step in creating a brick material... After we create this material together, you will learn to optimizing and exposing (preliminary) In this part of the tutorial.
- 01 - Brick making height & normal map (51 minutes)
- 02 - More details - normal - roughness - optimizing and exposing (70 minutes)
04 - Creating stylized advanced tile material
In the fourth part of the tutorial, we will create a tile material. This material is an advanced material and has many details and we have to comply with all the standards This material is a very useful material for you in the architecture industry. game development . animation or any Digital art project (Remember that you must complete this part of the tutorial to be able to continue)
- 01 - Creating advanced tile material (62 minutes)
05 - Optimizing and exposing
This part of the tutorial is actually a continuation of the previous part of the training (04 - Creating stylized advanced tile material) We expose the material and create the parameters, and you learn how to use the material in other 3D software.
- 01 - optimizing and exposing (65 minutes)
06 - Marmoset Toolbag render
After the creation of the material is finished and the exposure is finished, we export the textures and enter them into the Marmoset Toolbag software and create a rendering with proper lighting. (If you are not familiar with Marmoset Toolbag, don't worry, in this part of the tutorial, you will learn Marmoset Toolbag.)
- 01 - Marmoset toolbag render (43 minutes)
