Welcome to Modular Medieval Straight (MMS) Swords Part I, Made for Unreal Engine 4.24
I crafted each piece meticulously following the shape and proportions of historical finds. They are classified in the well-known Ewart Oakeshott typology and are largely based upon Oakeshott’s writings.
Assemble swords for your games using historically shaped and proportional blades and fittings. Gone are the days where swords were paddle-like in form; sluggish and would swing like a crowbar in real life. These would move like the real thing. Based off measured historical finds, classified in the Ewart Oakeshott typology, and scaled to the epic skeleton; they would find a good fit in a realistic medieval setting and even in high/dark fantasy to reinforce immersion; especially for detail oriented sword enthusiasts.
To assemble your sword, click on the sword static mesh titled “Example Build” floating above the platform in the viewport. The details tab on the right hand side of the viewport displays the Example build’s static mesh and its components below it. In the content browser you can utilize the meshes provided in the pack to switch the blade and/or the fittings. Have fun with it, alter the size, dimensions and set materials to change up your desired aesthetics. When you're done, right click the "Example Build” actor in the World Outliner and select *Convert Example Build to static mesh* at the bottom of the dropdown menu. You will be given a prompt to name your new creation and an option to set your file directory.
