Job Description
Twisted Pixel Games is seeking a highly motivated and talented Visual Effects (VFX) Artist capable of authoring realistic and high-quality visual effects. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of various visual effects programs and possess the ability to solve technical problems to achieve desired results. The candidate will contribute a high level of creativity and personality, have a team-oriented collaborative approach to development, and is interested in doing what it takes to make the best games possible.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop high quality visual effects and particle systems for a variety of gameplay and cinematic scenarios.
- Work with game programmers to facilitate the implementation of VFX in game.
- Assist with advanced material creation, post process effects and lighting as needed.
- Work closely with the Art and Design teams to ensure the highest quality assets are delivered.
Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 5+ years of direct experience as a VFX artist in the game industry with at least 2 shipped PC/console titles.
- Proficient in creating compelling visual effects in any VFX creation software.
- Ability to author original textures and assets for use in visual effects design.
- Experience creating 3D assets and materials in Maya or another 3D package as needed to support effects.
- Familiarity with lighting in game, material creation, and post effects.
- Excellent time management skills and the ability to handle large workloads efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Experience in game development with successful shipped games.
- Proactive about making things happen and a drive to continue developing as an artist.
- Desire and ability to put in the time and effort necessary to make a game great.
Pluses
- Experience with current generation game engines like Unreal, Radiant or Unity.
- Experience creating VFX within Niagara (UE4).
- Experience with Houdini and Houdini Engine for Unreal.
- Experience with cutting-edge modeling, sculpting, and animation techniques.
- Knowledge and experience with art creation software such as Zbrush, Substance Painter/Designer and Photoshop.
This position is located in Austin, Texas. You must be local to Austin prior to start date.
