Job Description

ASC is seeking a hardworking environment and lighting artist to help realize and design world in Unreal (4.26). The job will require working closely with designers, tech artists, and the client to create visually stunning in engine maps. These characters would mostly be used in high-end cinematics rendered in engine. They would mostly be created from bought packs and megascans and build specifc elements from scratch where necessary. This will effectively be "designing" in Unreal with exploration and play being the most important factor. And then when a cool direction is decided we will work as a team to clean up, optimize and render sequences for high end animatics. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Art Director and Character team to develop envrionments and "sketch" lighting based off initial concept designs and feedback.
  • Communicate effectively with the team to fulfill the visual goals of all levels
  • Adapt quickly and sketch idea in engine to get ideas across before committing too long to a specific direction.

Skills & Requirements

Requirements

  • Outstanding portfolio that demonstrates expertise in environment work in Unreal
  • Outstanding understanding of map layout and camera framing to come up with cinematic feeling environments
  • Can look-dev in engine and is familiar with shader work in Unreal
  • Experience modeling and texturing using Maya, Zbrush and Substance Painter
  • Proficiency in current generation production workflows
  • Strong understanding of PBR workflow
  • Ability to create and manipulate texture maps with a good understanding of efficient UV layout

Preferences

  • Strong traditional art foundations: including but not limited to concept art and illustration
  • A passion for games and film
  • Shipped one or more major titles on current next-gen platforms/PC platforms
  • Experience with cinematics a big plus
  • Experience source control and asset tracking tools such as Perforce and Shotgun a plus but can teach this if necessary
