Job Description

Bluepoint Games is looking for a LEAD 3D CHARACTER ARTIST to join our team on a full-time basis. Help us by leading a team of talented Character Artists and create unique assets for AAA titles. We’re looking for an individual with extensive game development experience who possesses exceptional talent and a true passion for creating cutting edge character art.

Please note: This is obviously not an entry or mid-level position. Please only apply if you have previous experience leading a character art team.


  • Lead by example - Create high-quality, game-ready character models.

  • Maintain the Art Director’s vision through feedback and communication .

  • Manage the Character Art team’s day-to-day activities.

  • With assistance from the Production team, organize and schedule the character tasks.

  • Sculpt detailed geometry with the highest quality standards.

  • Retopologize sculpts to game ready poly counts, UV layouts, and animatable geometry.

  • Create PBR textures sets for realistic materials.

  • Maintain functionality and animation ability throughout the model iteration process.

  • Mentor other Character Artists - Develop, learn, and teach the latest art creation technologies.

  • Collaborate with fellow Artists, Engineers, and Designers to produce the highest quality characters.

Skills & Requirements


  • At least 6 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least three AAA shipped titles.

  • Track record of leading a team of 4 or more Artists.

  • A portfolio reflecting high-quality game art.

  • Proven sculpting skills in ZBrush and knowledge of Maya.

  • Understanding of character skeleton and skinning techniques.

  • A proven knowledge of PBR material workflows.

  • Full understanding of Substance Painter and Photoshop for texturing.

  • Extensive insight of game workflows and pipelines.

  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX.


  • Familiarity with Allegorithmic Substance Designer.

  • Drawing/painting skills to help convey ideas.
