Job Description

SENIOR TECHNICAL DESIGNER – MONTRÉAL

Our Technical Designers are responsible for contributing to the creation and maintenance of authoring pipelines and tool suites as well as developing and standardizing best practices in support of both general level design/world creation and bespoke gameplay encounters.  This role will work closely with engineering and the game design teams to ensure uniformity of approach.  We need a design acrobat who can expertly balance the need for an innovative and ambitious game with the need to live within performance and memory budgets, and is intimately familiar with the technical strengths and weaknesses of UE4. 

You will be our resident expert to the design team. We need someone who is willing to assist individual designers on an as-needed basis to get their gameplay on-screen and playable! You’ll also prototype game content to help define and clarify desired tool needs. You’re a gamer at heart, but technical too so that you can work with the engineering team as liaison to the game design team to ensure adherence to budget constraints

  • Put your stamp on the project by developing, evangelizing, optimizing and enforcing best practices and guidelines related to design workflows and authoring.
  • Create and maintain thorough living documentation around same
  • You’re a plumber! Well, not really, but you can identify and resolve bottlenecks in tool chains and authoring approaches.
  • Take ownership of authoring pipelines and tools in support of design authoring as well
  • Help provide deep analysis of implemented game content to target optimization and performance opportunities. We want your input!
