Job Description
Twisted Pixel Games is seeking a highly motivated, talented, and passionate Cinematic Gameplay Designer to join our team and be a primary contributor to the development and execution of our awesome games. This is not a position creating in-game cutscenes. Instead, the ideal candidate will be a highly creative and versatile Gameplay Designer with a cinematic mindset for direction and presentation of immersive gameplay design with excellent communication and collaboration skills. Candidates should be able to demonstrate in-game systems or cinematic design sequences that they have personally executed in projects.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Have a directorial and cinematic eye for designing fun, immersive, creative, over-the-top gameplay moments for our games.
- Effectively be able to communicate and elaborate on these sequences to the rest of the team.
- Work directly with artists, programmers, animators and other game designers to execute and implement the vision of these moments.
- Provide critiques and direction to ensure these moments are as impactful and as fun as they can be.
- Work closely with designers, artists and engineers to elevate the moment-to-moment gameplay across the entire project.
- Ensure technical efficiency and feasibility of these gameplay moments based on the target platform.
- Assist in coordinating and directing motion capture with the animation and narrative teams.
- Contribute to planning and defining resource requirements in order to execute on these moments.
Skills & Requirements
- Excellent and effective communication skills.
- Outstanding team player with the ability to collaborate across teams without losing sight of the narrative and gameplay vision.
- Possess a deep understanding in the effective presentation of cinematic gameplay experiences with regard to user experience and player impact.
- Exceptional understanding of cinematic pacing, staging, and camera work.
- Background in either gameplay design or cinema, with experience dealing with both.
- Intimate understanding of industry-standard cinematic tools and practices.
- 3+ years of direct games industry experience.
- In-depth knowledge of content development tools and various engines such as Unreal and Unity.
- Be passionate about games.
Pluses
- Experience as either a gameplay designer or cinematic animator.
- The ability to storyboard or create animatics to effectively demonstrate your vision.
- Experience developing for VR products.
This position is located in Austin, Texas. You must be local to Austin prior to start date.
