Material Technical Artist
Bluepoint Games is looking for a MATERIAL TECHNICAL ARTIST to join our team on a full-time basis. Join us in tackling the most complex asset challenges, developing a world-class workflow to unleash the potential of our art team on AAA titles for current generation home consoles and beyond.
Please note: This is not an entry-level position. Professional experience is required.
Create highly realistic materials using PBR workflows
Develop powerful and efficient workflows, custom nodes, generators, and brushes, using Allegorithmic Substance tools to improve functionality, speed, and quality for the entire Art team
Create scripts and plugins for Substance Painter and Designer
Use procedural techniques in creation of complex materials
Prototype and demonstrate shaders for our engineers to implement into our proprietary material systems; and work with our engineers to improve our texture/material workflows..
Integrate and maintain our Substance pipeline.
Collaborate with other Technical Artists to integrate Substance with Maya, Houdini, and Bluepoint Engine workflows.
Inspire, mentor, and support other Artists creating materials for high quality environment and character assets
Assist with solving daily production challenges
Skills & Requirements
A portfolio reflecting both high-quality game art and tools
At least 5 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects)
Expert level knowledge of Substance Designer, Substance Painter
Ability to master a proprietary material authoring system
Thorough understanding of creating efficient real-time materials
Highly proficient with Photoshop
Strong knowledge of Maya
Complete understanding of game workflows and pipelines
Experience working with multiple game engines
Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX
The ideal candidate shall also have:
Experience with other texture generation techniques and software
Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge
Basic proficiency in C++, C#, Lua, or other scripting/programming languages
