Bluepoint is looking for a MATERIAL TECHNICAL ARTIST to join our team on a full time basis. Tackle the most complex asset challenges and join us in developing a world-class workflow to unleash the potential of our art team in developing AAA titles.
Please note: This is not an entry-level position.
Create highly realistic materials using PBR workflows
Develop powerful and efficient workflows for the Art team using Allegorithmic Substance tools.
Create scripts and plugins for Substance Painter and Designer.
Use procedural techniques in order to create complex materials.
Build custom nodes in Designer to help improve functionality, speed, and quality
Create custom generators and brushes in Designer for use in Painter
Prototype and demonstrate shaders for our Engineering department to implement with our proprietary material systems.
Integrate and maintain our Substance pipeline.
Collaborate with other Technical Artists to help integrate Substance with Maya, Houdini, and Bluepoint Engine workflows.
Work with our Engineering department to further develop our material system and improve our texture/material workflows and technologies.
Mentor and support the other Artists creating materials for both environment and character assets.
Assist with solving daily production challenges.
Expert level knowledge of Substance Designer, Substance Painter.
The ability to master a proprietary material authoring system.
A thorough understanding of creating efficient real-time materials.
Highly proficient with Photoshop.
Strong knowledge of Maya.
Complete understanding of game workflows and pipelines.
Experience working with multiple game engines.
At least 5 years of professional experience in the games industry with at least one shipped title (excluding academic projects).
A portfolio reflecting high-quality game art and tools.
Ability to work onsite at our facility in Austin, TX.
Experience with other texture generation techniques and software.
Shader authoring skills (HLSL, GLSL, CGFX) knowledge.
C++, C#, Lua, or other scripting/programming knowledge.
