Job Description
Paradox Development Studio is now looking for a talented VFX Artist to join our art team in Stockholm, working mainly on producing VFX for our star sci-fi title Stellaris.
We are looking for a VFX Artist with a broad skillset who could take on a variety of tasks. The successful candidate will primarily create VFX and VFX Animations using our in house Engine/Tools. Working within our studio, you’ll have the opportunity to explore space effects, bring spaceship battles to life and imagine the atmosphere of many alien planets!
Responsibilities
- Create high quality VFX for current and upcoming titles
- Collaborate with Art Leads & Art Director to establish and maintain style and quality
- Push our creative boundaries and help set the VFX benchmark for our upcoming games
- Communicate effectively and proactively with other projects and team members
- Help create and continuously refine VFX creation pipeline
- Mentor less experienced members of the VFX team
Skills & Requirements
Required Qualifications
- At least 3+ years of experience working in the games industry
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Photoshop and Maya (or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of techniques used in game engines and VFX
- Self-going with the ability to iterate and implement quickly
- Understanding of other disciplines in relationship with VFX (modelling, lighting, rendering)
- Broad visual library especially in the sci-fi media
Experience in the following is a plus:
- Familiarity with Paradox grand-strategy games
- Technical art skills
- Experience with animation principles
- Node based VFX systems
- Experience with a scripting or programming language
- Experience with fluid simulations for smoke & explosion in Embergen
- Interest in sci-fi
