Job Description

Xcite Interactive builds games and entertainment platforms for large-venue events, including major sports, concerts, major rodeos, and more!  We are a small but hardworking team of game developers, making excellent games and continuously learning and improving.   

Your Role On The Team 

As part of the Xcite Interactive Art team, the 3D Environment Artist is responsible for creating and implementing high-quality environments and other 3D assets into our Unreal games.  Success in this role requires a great eye for artistic detail coupled with high proficiency with modern modeling, texturing, implementation techniques in Unreal Engine.   

Our team comprises numerous cross-discipline developers, artists, designers, and QA – we are a small team working efficiently to build fun, fast-paced games in a rapidly growing market. 

 Responsibilities 

  • Create models and textures of high visual quality, optimized for realtime rendering 

  • Set up Environments in Unreal Engine, often to replicate real world arenas, waterfronts, etc 

  • Create and set up materials in ue4, sometimes with texture animations and dynamic color parameters, employing modern rendering techniques such as PBR 

  • Work closely with programmers to ensure all assets are functional and added to the projects correctly 

  • Optimize assets from 3rd party marketplaces 

  • Provide reliable time estimates, and work efficiently on projects as scheduled by the game producer 

  • Work with our artists, producers, QA, and the rest of the team as a dependable and available contributor and colleague    

Skills & Requirements

Requirements 

  • Highly proficient working in Unreal Engine, setting up and optimizing environments and 3D assets 

  • Highly proficient creating models in Maya.  Experience with ZBrush a big plus. 

  • Skilled in retopo work, UV’s texture painting and texture optimizing.  Experience with Substance Painter / Substance Designer a big plus. 

  • Understanding and experience working with Physically Based Rendering techniques 

  • Lighting and Animation skills are a BIG plus. 

  • Quality portfolio demonstrating exceptional game asset production work 

  • Ability to prioritize workloads and manage multiple concurrent tasks with tight deadlines 

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail 

  • Game Design experience a plus
