Job Description
BROWN BAG FILMS HAVE OPENINGS FOR THEIR PREVIZ DEPARTMENT FOR LEAD PREVIZ LAYOUT ARTIST, WORKING FOR THE DUBLIN STUDIO.
WE ARE LOOKING FOR TALENTED PREVIZ ARTISTS WHO CAN WORK WITH US -
- To interpret the 2D animatics and build 3D cinematic layout sequences.
- To translate the 2D Designs into simple and clean pre-visualisation geometries to establish the scale, size, and functionality for the key story points.
- To mentor and develop the work of other artists in the team, problem-solving as appropriate
Skills & Requirements
=== WHAT YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR: ===
- Producing previz key animation sequences with an emphasis on camera, staging, timing and functionality of a sequence.
- Collaborating with the Directors to build sequence layout and location blocking.
- Crafting shipment notes to optimally advise the external studios on cameras and layout of episodes in production.
- Reviewing camera work in blocking/layout passes delivered from the external studios and ensuring that the outsource partners have clear direction.
- Providing regular progress updates to Production and Layout Department Supervisor on any technical/workflow bottlenecks within that project’s layout schedule.
- Developing Layout workflows and techniques.
- Approving and providing mentorship in Layout within the department both in-house and for overseas studios.
- Working with Directors and Production Design team to develop the cinematic style and look for the project.
- Assisting production in time bids and resourcing.
- Crafting and contributing to documents on workflows.
- Supporting the department supervisor by giving reports on the team and project, implementing and rolling out updates.
- Mentor and training of other team members.
Responsible for maintaining the standards of a projects Layout

- Proactive in improving storyboards through the creation of shot-viz
- Expert knowledge of staging, composition, pacing and timing in Animation.
- Coaching and mentoring artists
- Must be comfortable with outsource management and emphasis on clear communication and follow through
- Able to advise, improve on and troubleshoot on current tools and animation issues.
- General knowledge of rigging, lighting, fx and modelling. Good eye for editing and software knowledge.
