Job Description

Twisted Pixel Games is seeking an accomplished Fighting / Combat Technical Designer to work with our team of experienced developers on an unannounced game. Candidate would be expected to work in several areas of game development, however would be primarily tasked with technical design, game balance and combat-centric gameplay functionality. 

 The ideal candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a team-oriented, collaborative approach to development, and be experienced in many areas of game development - including design and programming tasks related to a variety of subjects such as gameplay, animation, math and tools. Candidate must be focused on the quality of their work, be able to learn quickly, be able to complete any technical design task efficiently, and be able to grasp new technologies and concepts quickly.            

Skills & Requirements

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, implement, tune, and balance a variety of combat gameplay systems and mechanics
  • Design and script responsive and engaging character mechanics, interactions, FX and systems that contribute to the overall game design
  • Achieve a high degree of polish through continuous playtesting and iteration
  • Create design schedules and design documents
  • Work closely with animators, FX artists, designers, producers, and engineers to ensure the highest quality product
  • Complete tasks in a timely fashion as well as making sure they are robust, expandable, and fun

Skillset & Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 3+ years professional game design and programming experience
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Outstanding C/C++ programming skills, and ability to grasp complex systems
  • Experience with and a strong sense of combat game design
  • Pro-active about making things happen
  • A passion for action games with a focus on combat mechanics


  • Experience with game scripting languages
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • Experience developing a multiplayer networked game
  • Experience working with a team of animators, programmers, and FX artists
  • Experience working on a multiplatform game

This position is located in Austin, Texas.
