Job Description

Downpour Interactive is looking for an enthusiastic Technical Environment Artist to join it's newly formed art team. The role is 100% remote, contract based and open to anyone globally. The studio offers flexible working hours combined with a 4 day work week.

Our mission is to take VR visuals to the next level. To achieve this goal, we want to create the best possible team and give people the independence and freedom to shine. You will have lots of input and have a large impact on the finished product.

As a technical environment artist at Downpour Interactive you will be responsible for creating procedural tools and workflows to assist with the production of VR game environments that look both visually stunning and are highly optimized.

Your role will primarily focus on the creation of tools to assist the environment art team with building creation, asset placement and general environment construction.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of Houdini and procedural systems. An understanding of environment creation and optimisation techniques is essential.

Skills & Requirements

  • Examples of work that showcase procedurally generated assets or tools to assist with the creation of environments

  • Expert in procedural content creation applications such as Houdini

  • Build tools for automating asset creation (Buildings, Asset placement, power lines, terrain etc.)

  • Develop workflows for the creation of large-scale environments and assets

  • Assist with automating parts of the development pipeline making production for environments faster

  • Create parametric assets that can be manipulated in real-time with user-friendly inputs and controls

  • Able to work independently, Self-motivated with a positive attitude

  • Work closely with the environment art lead to develop and improve upon existing workflows

  • Ability to reach deadlines and provide estimates for scheduling work

  • An understanding of related Environment workflows is desired

About the Company

Downpour Interactive, the developer behind Onward has been taking the PC VR community by storm for years.  It was founded in North Carolina in 2015 by Dante Buckley with the goal of building an innovative first person shooter game for virtual reality platforms and the long term goal to build games that will make you think, feel, and learn new perspectives. 

Onward is a Mil-Sim paced tactical multiplayer shooter, being developed for virtual reality head mounted displays. Players will use coordination, communication, and marksmanship skill to complete objectives in online infantry combat.
