Job Description

Hi-Rez Studios is now accepting qualified Look Development Intern applicants for our Summer Internship Program at our studio in Alpharetta, Georgia on our Cinematics team! 

This will be a paid, seasonal employee. The deadline to submit all application materials is Feb 28, 2019. Internship selections will be made and announced by April 1, 2019, with the Intern work program starting mid-May, 2019, ending mid-August, 2019 (actual dates to be determined).

What our Look Development Interns do:

  • The Look Development Intern is expected to work both independently and with Art Directors and Art Leads on creating final looks and materials for CG characters, environments and props to be used in our cinematics projects. 
  • Work closely with lighting artists to ensure proper implementation of the look development assets. 
  • Work on developing best practices and improvements for the production pipeline, and help set a standard and overall approach for all Hi-Rez projects. 
  • Drive and concept overall aesthetics from scene concepts and initial documentation. 
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related as assigned.


Skills & Requirements

What we are looking for:

  • Must be able to travel effectively to and from studio on a daily basis. 
  • Must be currently enrolled in (documented as a "Junior" or higher grade level) - or recently graduated of - an accredited college, university, or school of art. 
  • Currently carrying or graduated with a G.P.A. of 3.5 or higher (and provide documentation). 
  • At least one professional Letter of Reference from a manager, supervisor, professor or instructor; outlining how they know you, and why you should be considered for this position. 
  • Current resume. 
  • Cover letter. 
  • Portfolio and/or Website displaying applicable work. 
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. 
  • Good communication skills, and a team player.

Even better candidates:

  • Excellent eye for composition and color, a great understanding of light and shadow, and a strong ability to present games and cinematics at their highest level. 
  • Working knowledge of game engines such as Unreal Engine 3, 4. 
  • Strong understanding of color grading, PBR and Linear workflows.
  • Familiar with relevant software such as Photoshop, After Effects, or equivalent.
